Wilson, the quarterback for the New York Jets, left the Philadelphia Eagles game on Friday due to a knee injury. MRI will be conducted on Saturday to determine the extent of the injury. After his team’s 24-21 victory, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said he had no new information.
Saleh said that Wilson’s ACL was “supposed to be intact,” but he won’t know for sure until Saturday. “We’re going to wait on the MRI tomorrow,” he added.
Mike White replaces Zach
After scrambling for seven yards and making an awkward cut on a first-quarter play, the Brigham Young product was let go. Wilson, who wasn’t touched on the play, emerged from the ground with a limp, appearing to favour his right leg, and made his way to the locker room. Mike White, a backup quarterback, took his place.
Wilson injury will affect the team
Wilson was later deemed questionable to return due to a knee injury by New York, but he never returned to the game.
The loss of Wilson would undoubtedly be another devastating blow to the team, which is already reeling from the loss of offensive tackle Mekhi Becton, a former first-round pick, who is likely out for the season due to a fractured kneecap.
Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, is starting his second season with the Jets. He was 3-10 as a starter as a rookie in 2021 with 2,334 passing yards, nine touchdown passes, and 11 interceptions.
One poor pass in the first quarter of a preseason game wasn’t even close to the severity of the injury. Due to a knee injury, Wilson missed four games in the middle of last season. He had experienced pain in his right knee on Friday night.
On Friday, the Jets’ preseason got off to a rough start when their starting quarterback injured his knee. They likely can’t wait for the preseason to be over.
